From a Fletcher campaign press release about Election Night accomodations for reporters:
Additionally, wireless internet access will not be provided; however, if journalists are interested in receiving access, they may contact Seth Helfrich with the Marriott at (859) 231-1500.
Emphasis mine. This is political tone deafness at its finest. Free wireless internet is no more costly and no less considerate than offering reporters free ice water.
Kentucky gubernatorial candidate Steve Beshear has finally narrowed down what all that gambling money that will come into the state under his watch will go toward. While being asked questions by high schoolers, he said:
I want to designate right in the constitutional amendment at least the general areas where we should use the money. My idea where we would use the money is in education, in health care and in economic development. I also want to designate some of the money for local governments to help them with infrastructure problems.
In the 2004-06 budget, education and health care amounted to fully 77.8 percent of the Kentucky state spending. In the previous budget it was 77.9 percent.
That certainly narrows it down.
