As of 5pm ET, the Paul campaigned had raked $2.5 million today.
Apparently, those spam-bots propping up his Internet campaign are rather wealthy.
Wow! As of right now, he’s raised a little over $3 million.
I have to admit I wasn’t aware that Bono had anything to do with the Product(RED) campaign until recently. The idea is that many consumer goods are sold in red versions to support a campaign to eliminate HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria from impoverished nations.
Here’s what he told Brian Williams Friday about the fact that many American companies are boosting sales by allying themselves with the campaign:
Some people push back against it and it’s irritating. Some people don’t like the ideas that companies can make profit. But we want people to make a profit on this because that makes it sustainable.
That’s right: Profits make social entrepreneurship sustainable. Kudos to Bono for recognizing that helping the world and helping the bottom line are not mutually exclusive.
