Kentucky has a satellite? Well, we did…

In an attempt to reach to the heights of technology that were achieved by the Soviet Union fifty years ago, the public Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation attempted to launch a ten foot rocket into suborbital flight for five minutes. It made it for ninety seconds, failed to reach it’s target altitude and then suffered what is described as a “catastrophic structural failure,” which I think is a euphemism for “it exploded.”
The rocket, built by university students from across the state, was a warm up for a planned orbital launch in July. Hopefully.
