The personality of my personal electronics

After about a year of covetousness, I bought a new GPS unit for my car last week. It’s fantastic. Keep in mind that I have been known to get lost in my own yard and that I have the sense of direction of a drunk kitten tied in a sack.
The GPS talks to you. It says things like “Prepare to turn left in a quarter mile,” or if you deviate from its programmed route it says “Route recalculating.” It’s a very dull voice. I haven’t had it a week, and I am tired of the repetitiveness of it’s directions.
I wish the GPS had a lot more personality. I wish it would chide me for driving in the wrong direction. Maybe it could pout, or make snide comments. Something surprising at the very least. Optimally you should be able to choose different personalities for your personal electronic devices. I think having several celebrity personalities would be fine. Maybe I could set the GPS to respond like Robert DeNiro. Or Robin Williams. Hopefully, not Brittany Spears.
Then again, I have been watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles since it premiered so I have some reservations. I guess you can take these things too far…
