<p>Even though radar detectors can be a problem for police who are trying to keep traffic speeds safe, seemingly they don&#8217;t do much for overall traffic speeds. </p>

<p> When war broke out in 1914, men from Britain and her enormous empire signed on by the thousand. English men answered the famous Lord Kitchener poster that announced &#8216;Your Country Wants You&#8217;. In Australia and New Zealand, men were inducted into ANZAC (Australia and New Zealand Armed forces Co) and in Canada, the Canadian Expeditionary Force started to enlist men.  </p>
<p> By the end of the World War I, the Canadian Expeditionary Force had inducted over 50% a million men. A lot of them were sent to the Western Front served with distinction at Ypres, the Somme, Passchendaele and probably their most signifcant battle at <a href="http://battlefieldexplorer.com/vimy-ridge/">Vimy Ridge</a>. It was here that all four Canadian divisions attacked as one force under sole Canadian control. Their attack was a resounding success and was a major point in the country&#039;s history. </p>
<p> Though the great majority of the men who fought with the Canadian Expeditionary Force were volunteers, a considerable number of them were conscripts. Around 24,000 were utilized to France before the end of the war. It was one of those conscripts who was to become the last Associated soldier to die in action during World War I. </p>
<p> Non-public George Lawrence Price was conscripted in October 1917 and was a part of &#8216;A &#8216; Company, 28th Northest Corps (Saskatchewan Regiment). Non-public Price saw action in Amiens, Cambrai and Mons. On the morning of the Truce, Price was tangled up in an try to take the town of Havre. While in pursuit of some German infantrymen, Price was shot dead by a sniper.  </p>
<p> It was 10.58am on 11th November 1918, just 2 minutes before the ceasefire was due to take effect. Today, Personal Price lies buried in the St Symphorien Army Graveyard just outside Mons. By coincidence, the last Brit soldier to die in World War I is also buried in the same graveyard. Personal George Edwin Ellison had been on active service since 1914 and was killed while on patrol at approximately 9.30am on 11th November 1918.</p>
<p>An extraordinarily big number of infantrymen were fatally injured on <a href="http://battlefieldexplorer.com/armistice-day/">Truce Day</a>. Although the contract was signed at 5am, the communication took time to reach all infantrymen who treated it as just another day in <a href="http://battlefieldexplorer.com/world-war-i-tours/">World War I</a>.</p>

<p>Not long ago energy reserves were believed to be in the hands of about twelve countries. In the nineteen sixties they formed themselves into an organization that seemed to have power over the whole world through their control of a key resource.</p>
<p>Some of the twelve OPEC countries are ruled by despots or dictators and they soon realized that their easily amassed wealth was inextricably linked with the well being of developed countries which bought their product. As this realization dawned they began to invest in politically stable countries driven by fear that their worldly assets would become worthless in a world such as their own. In this way the mission changed from price protection to protecting a balance between supply and demand.</p>
<p>The power of OPEC was further diminished by the discovery of energy supplies in parts of the world outside the traditional production areas. New fields were discovered in the North Sea, in the Gulf of Mexico, in Russia and in Alaska. Despite this, OPEC countries are still estimated to control about eighty percent of world supplies</p>
<p>It is obviously in the interests of fossil fuel producers to have people own petroleum driven cars. This may be part of the reason why the development of electric cars has been possible but excruciatingly slow for many years. However, environmental realities are now forcing governments to take action before the world clogs itself up with carbon to a disastrous extent. Suddenly, electric cars are not only possible but also economical and increasingly fashionable.</p>
<p>Possibly, OPEC members have recognized that the continuance of huge wealth accumulated by simply pumping from lakes beneath desert sands depends upon keeping prices low enough to discourage research into alternatives such as biofuels and electricity driven cars. <p>These people complain saying motorcycle riders like loud pipes because they are juvenile and want to show off and say, &#8220;Hey, look at me!&#8221; and draw attention to themselves. The reason many bikers like loud pipes is not to say, &#8220;Look at me,&#8221; it&#8217;s to say, &#8220;Look out for me!&#8221; Many car drivers these days are talking on the phone, texting, putting on makeup, eating, playing loud music, watching DVDs and just not paying attention to the road in front of them. If you&#8217;re in a car and you get hit, you may get a dent in your car, bikers can and do die! (Nothing enjoyable in life is completely safe.)</p>
<p>These groups against loud pipes know gathering citizens together to complain is very easy, if they ask people while they are sitting around bored all summer-long, &#8220;Have you ever heard a loud motorcycle go by?&#8221; They are going to say, &#8220;Yes they have!&#8221; These groups are then going to talk about how annoying these motorcycles are and convince these bored people how much better their lives would be if these motorcycles where gone! These bored people are going to jump right on board! But now ask these same people when was the last time you heard a loud motorcycle go by? They will probably hard-pressed to find an answer. Was it weeks ago, months ago, was it two years ago?</p>
<p>There are already laws on the books in every state that say a motorcycles pipes can only be so loud. We do not need new laws on the books that most officers will do nothing about while others will abuse.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the plight of so many disabled veterans continues to effect their professional lives and their ability to make ends meet, organizations like the <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/company/disabled-veterans-national-foundation">Disabled Veterans National Foundation</a> have done everything they can to help these vets make ends meet. On October 29th, the DVNF helped to deliver supplies from a full load of a semi truck, with a value estimated at $145,000.</p>
<p>&#8220;This project stretched our resources beyond our normal capacities,&#8221; said Jacob Roberson with Volunteers of America who arranged for the donation. &#8220;Volunteers of America is grateful to our partners North East Mobile Health Services, one of New England&#8217;s largest and most respected providers of medical transportation services, whose donation made it possible to ship, store and distribute these goods to needed veterans. In addition, reVision heat, a company that helps Mainers transition away from fossil fuels, donated trucks and drivers to make the deliveries possible.&#8221; Both are Maine companies.</p>
<p>The donated goods being delivered by <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/OfficialDVNF">Disabled Veterans National Foundation</a> are being shipped to veterans at multiple locations across the state, including the Togus Stand Down event on Oct. 29 in Augusta.</p>
<p>Other distribution sites include Volunteers of America&#8217;s veterans&#8217; programs, additional veterans&#8217; programs across the state and the VA Maine Health Care System. Cumberland Self Storage located at 14 Maine Street at Fort Andross in Brunswick donated the storage space needed for the large shipment.</p>
<p>Volunteers of America Northern New England is a national, non-profit, spiritually based organization providing local human service programs and opportunities for individual and community involvement.</p>
